Light in the Dark

LIGHT IN THE DARK was an open gallery installation featuring the work of various artists centered on the theme of the camera presented at Automata in L.A.'s historic Chinatown. Photography, filmmaking, interactive installations, and activity-based exhibits were gathered in a science museum-like setting, offering a hands-on metaphoric and mechanical exploration of the camera.

Curated and produced by Alexis Macnab, the event featured artwork, installations and perforamnces by Molly Allis, Thadeus Frazier-Reed & Alexis Macnab, Alexandra Friedman & Jonathan Potter, Eve-Lauryn Little Shell LaFountain, Leah Olbrich, Moira MacDonald, Robin Miller, Narges Norouzi, Deena Selenow, and Amanda Jane Shank, with Jacob Gibson, Nora King, Zach Schwartz and Christine Wood.

LIGHT IN THE DARK took place during the KCRW Chinatown Summer Nights events in June 2015. Free and open to everyone, the event further's Macnab's desire to introduce the arts and abstract thinking to the public's every day experience. The goal of the event was to invoke wonder, and encourage a sense of play.

Special Thanks to Automata in Chinatown, and Janie Geiser, Susan Simpson, and Miranda Wright.
