Gods

CalArts Festival Theater presented a theatrical adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov’s short story Gods at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2012. This intimate and heartbreaking monologue is illuminated by physical storytelling and richly layered video projection in an exploration of what we say when words are not enough. A young writer strolls with his wife on a beautiful afternoon, telling her wild fables to lighten her heavy heart.  A picture of grief, resilience, and how tragedy opens our eyes to unspeakable beauty, Gods takes us on an emotionally redemptive journey.

Performed by Matthew Bamberg-Johnson and Geneveive Gearhart. Adapted and Directed by Alexis Macnab; Video Design by Alexis Macnab and Mauel Barenboim; Sound Design by Martin Jimenez; Light Design by Maura Reinhart; With production support from Juli Figueroa; Stage Managed by Fred Fitzgerald; Presented at Venue 13 at the 2012 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
