Exquisite Mistake

An immersive adaptation of Henry James' novel The Portrait of a Lady was invited to premiere at the New Orleans Fringe Festival in 2014. For the Festival, a.m.p. developed Exquisite Mistake, an interactive exploration of the novel's themes that cast the audience as the the story's main character, Isabel Archer.

"Combining choreographed performances with improvised interactions, Exquisite Mistake is both entertaining and engaging." - Best of New Orleans

As a newly orphaned ex-pat in Europe, Isabel is everyone's perfect version of a friend, a lover, a confidant, an accessory, a victim. Provoked and plead with by each character, the audience must pledge their allegiance to one of thier new friends or foes, and then live with the consequences. Exquisite Mistake is a carnival of poor life choices wrapped in the luxury of upper-class indolence, desperation, and desire where love is the deadliest affliction and money the most effective weapon.
